To review, there are three steps to peer editing:
Start with compliments. Why do you think it is important to give compliments first? What is the importance of "staying positive"? Brainstorm some compliments that you could give for the sample of student writing in the PowerPoint above. Some things to look for may include:
- word choice
- sentence structure
- opening and closing sentences

Think of what suggestions you would make to the author? REMEMBER: Put-downs or disrespect is NOT acceptable! That being said, you need to remember to be specific when you give suggestions. For example, "The second sentence in the third paragraph is confusing to me. Maybe you could break it up into two separate sentences." Below, share what specific suggestions you might have for the student sample in the powerpoint above.
