Today at the Learning Center, we first took the 3rd Interim Assessment. Then, students worked in MobyMax Math for about 30 minutes. We are beginning to keep a record of what lessons we do in MobyMax in order to be more accountable for how we spend out time. Below is the record sheet we will be using at the LC. Students are being asked to reflect on how they feel they used their time in class, and I will be grading as well. We will begin to use these as a discussion point of what is expected at the LC.
Then we got into Unit 6. We covered the first two of three Foundations topics: Graphing Points and Identifying Points on a Graph. The pages from the textbook are below.
Unit 6 Foundations: Graphing Points, p. 204
We began by taking notes in our ClassConnect notebooks. I modeled for the students how to take notes from the textbook. See below for "Graphing Points":
After that, we completed the practice problems.
Students, set your graph paper up like this:
Unit 6 Foundations: Identifying Points on a Line, p. 205
My modeled notes from the textbook (students wrote these in their ClassConnect notebooks):
This week at the Learning Center, 7th graders took the Interim Assessment # 3. After that, they spent 30 minutes working in MobyMax Math.
Then we reviewed Order of Operations from the Foundations section of Unit 6. We are learning to take notes from a textbook, so Mrs. Claeson modeled how to do that (from page 190 in the 7th grade math text).
If you were absent, you can see the notes below.
ALL students need to make sure that they have these notes in their ClassConnect notebooks. Mrs. Claeson will be checking ClassConnect notebooks next week to check for these notes.
Unit 6 Foundations: Order of Operations, p. 190
Once notes were finished, the students completed ALL of the practice problems on page 190. We are learning how to show our work, so we used a template that Mrs. Claeson created for us.
Unit 6 Foundations: One-Step Equations with Addition or Subtraction, p. 191
Most students were able to tackle the second of the three Foundation topics: One-Step Equations with Addition or Subtraction. The notes that Mrs. Claeson modeled are below.
ALL students should make sure to have these notes in their ClassConnect notes as well.
If you were Absent or did not have enough time to finish the second topic, you need to complete it at home and turn it in to me at the LC next Tuesday. No exceptions.
Again, when notes were finished, students completed all of the problems on page 191 using the template Mrs. Claeson created.
If you were absent this week, make sure that you get all of the notes into your ClassConnect notebook, including examples. Then, make sure to complete all of the problems on pages 190 and 191.
Today at the Learning Center we took the Math Interim Assessment # 3. Then students worked in MobyMax for 30 minutes. After that, students began working on the Unit 6 Foundations topic: Writing Mixed Numbers as Improper Fractions.
Below is a copy of the notes that Mrs. Claeson modeled for the class (we are working on how to take notes from a textbook).
Students, make sure that you have these notes in your notebook. I will be checking them next week.
Also, ALL students need to complete the practice problems on page 188 in the textbook. These practice problems are due to me at the Learning Center next Tuesday, 2/2/16.
In class, 6th grade students started taking notes on "Adding and Subtracting Like Fractions". We ran out of time. Students are to finish the notes at home using the PowerPoint below:
If students misplaced their note packet, they may download a new packet below:
This week at the Learning Center, we:
