How to handle homework (or lack thereof)
The philosophies on assigning homework vary from teacher to teacher and school to school. Some educators assign homework as a means of getting students to practice skills and concepts at home, while others prefer to have students complete this work at school. If your child's teacher assigns homework, support the teacher's decision and help your child understand that even adults have work they must take home from time to time. If your child's teacher doesn't assign homework, you should still set aside a time and place and establish a routine for extracurricular learning, including reading, solving puzzles, exploring topics of interest, and doing hobbies. Stay in touch with the teacher and practice skills at home in fun and creative ways.
